First targets...

Got the first two targets from the Postal Match today. Rich Jake and Leibowitz are the first to get their targets to me.

Looks like there is some darn fine shooting going on around here.

Let's keep them coming folks! [Smile]

This looks like it's going to be a ton of fun to score.

These will be in the mail Monday morning.

This is the 200 yard group - 223 Bellm-VVCG 14" barrel. Ammo [pictured] is Hornady 40grn V-max, which did the best out of the 1-12" twist barrel.

This is the 100 yard group. 22lr 14" Match chamber T/C Turtle gun. Ammo is Eley Tenex. This group opened up for some strange reason. Ahh well...

That is fine shooting for 200 yards with that .223. What scope do you use?

I had a Burris 10X IER Scope that I had been using to run through the bulk of all my testing on the 14" Bellm-VVCG barrel, finished that phase, and sold it.

For the postal match, it wore a Tasco 10-40x50mm Target rifle scope, a very heavy VVCG forend of my own design that VVCG built for me, and an old style frame that Mike Bellm had done a trigger job on the trigger group and taken into the low Oz etc. It worked out well enough, though with the scope dialed all the way to 40x eye relief became marginal.

Now I am looking to mount the Leupold 6.5-20x rifle scope. Has the "X" to see way out there, and from my past experiences with the scope, the eye relief is the best of the higher "X" scopes on the market, and so it looks to be a good riflescope for this application.

This is the 22lr Match barrel "turtle gun" that I used for the 100 yard shoot (wears the identical 10-40x50mm Tasco Target scope) Imagin the same setup, scope & grip, but with a much more massive forend, and that is what the .223 looked like.

I used a padded elevation wedge under the grip, and the free-float forend and Harris 6R bipod, off of the top of my Jeep.

Also many wind flags etc. it is nice when one has the luxury of waiting as long as one wants for the wind to be perfect [Big Grin]
