Sorta off topic, 357 herret leever gun
With the 35 rem apparently no longer having factory ammo available for it, and the fact that I'd like a 35 leever gun, I'm thinking that perhaps picking up a cheap thutty thutty, and making a 357 herret out of it would be an interesting option.

I'm thinking that the shortened case would be offset by the ability to use longer bullets. Should be the berries with heavier cast bullets, if I use a faster, say 1-12" twist.

Wondering if any of the folks here have any experience with such a beast.

You sure Paul?

I just thought that component brass was no longer available but factory ammo was still being made.

Winchester is actually making the brass but on a seasonal basis.

Back when I was doing cut rifle reboring, I converted a few .30/30s to .35x.30/30.

Rebarrelling a lever gun gets expensive, but when only the caliber is changed, then only the neck and throat need to be cut for the new cal. Recrowning the barrel completes the conversion.

I have not kept up with who is still reboring barrels. Cliff LaBounty and Randy Redman were the last names I knew of.
