Bobby Tomek1st experience with Boyd's Gunstocks not the best
I've heard many good things about this company, and my wife decided she wanted me to have a stock from there as part of my Christmas. So I ordered in November and was told that this particular batch of stocks was in the finishing phase but would ship no later than the first week of December. I emphasized that this was a Christmas present and was told getting it by then was absolutely no problem.
Well, on Thursday, after not hearing anything from Boyd's or receiving the stock, I e-mailed to find out that it had not been shipped. After several more e-mails, I was told it may ship the next day.
Today, I found out that it had not been sent and that it MAY ship around 12-31, but there's no guarantee for that either. Now, I can certainly understand running behind, but as a business owner myself, I also know that promising something I can't deliver is NOT the way to keeping clients happy.
In talking with them, I was told they needed to "move a large batch of parts" before Christmas, hence the delay, so I guess, judging by the tone of his voice, that the small orders are considered insignificant and are put on the backburner.
I'm disappointed in their service, but my wife is more disappointed because she won't have the stock under the tree with my new barrel.
I like the stocks, I like the prices and do want to order additional items from them -- but not if this is the typical service. What has been your experience with Boyd's?

<T. D. Clevenger>I've only used the services of Boyds one time. They list a Martini Henry buttstock, but no forarm. So I ordered the stock and a blank to make my own forarm from. I specified that the forarm blank needed to be as close as they could get, within reason, to having the same color and grain structure as the buttstock.
What I got was a very light colored Walnut buttstock and a very dark colored stick of wood, covered on one side with bark, to build a forearm from. Not happy was I.
I called them and they removed the wayword fireplace kindling from the bill.
I visited a lumber yead and found a light piece of walnut to build my forearm from and used the "blank" from Boyds to assist in heating the house.

JulesBobby, My dealings with them is somewhat of a long story. The first buttstock I got from them took 10 days from the day I placed my order.
But the next order took 3 months. It started out as a grip and ended up as a buttstock....by my choise.
They do need to get there shit together when there dealing with us little guys though. If it's going to take 3 months....fine, just tell me that. But don't tell me 2 weeks when ya know that won't happen. Product is good but you have to ride there ass a bit to get it.
