Bobby TomekWho has tried these?
A local shooter has several hundred Berger .22 cal 30 grain bullets which he has offered to sell me at a very reasonable price. He was shooting them in a Hornet but has sold that rifle. I was thinking of using them in either a .223 or 22-250 (both 1:14) for some of our smaller vermin out to maybe 200 yards. Has anyone tried these -- and what were the results. I've used the "standard" weight Bergers and do like them, but I never attempted any of the lightweights in the .223 or 22-250.

B_KoesI haven't loaded any up, but they seem like potent medicine for my Hornet out to 200yds. I've got 100 of them to try and I'd buy any that you didn't want.
I think that you have the right idea though by keeping the range fairly short because those bullets don't have a great BC and they tend to really start losing steam around 200yds and beyond.
Just a note for you to consider...Calhoon also makes some bullets in the 30-35gr range that seem to be pretty good for higher velocity loads as long as they stay under 3600fps.

Bobby TomekHe sold me a little over 700 of them for an even $50. If they don't work out, I'll offer them up here for the same price (pro-rated minus what I have shot, of course) plus shipping. But I'd give you first shot at them.
I hope to try them out next week, work and weather permitting.

Here is at least one Hornet shooter that is hoping the Bergers don't perform for you. We probably wouldn't even expect you to sell them for a loss!
