pistoljess150 gr. bullet in 30-30
I would do an expansion test at the max range I intended to shoot game (wet Telephone books or similar stuff) because heavier bullets at longer ranges have a tendency to not expand. I killed a lot of deer with the the Hornady 180 gr. single shot pistol bullet in my .35 remington contender and could not believe how good it killed deer. I mean instant kills, blood trails you could see from the deer stand etc. , but I shot a 100 lb buck at about 175 yds. not a bad hit just a little back in the liver. missed a rib going in and coming out bullet expanded 0. The bullet left the muzzle at about 2350 fps. we ran that deer (trailed and trailed for an honest 3/4 mile and would not have gotten him if a cur dog hadnt jumped him and he ran full tilt for another half mile and the dog drownded him in a creek. so better check, wont cost much a few wet phone books out there where you are going to shoot. If that bullet had expanded it would have busted the diaphram and bled him quicker to boot

<Fireball>Now that post is RIGHT ON! Same thing with the 7-30 waters and the 139grn Hornady...VEry accrate but terrible on game. Just not enough velocity to get the job done.\I think I will try the phone book test on a few rounds....GREAT idea.
