Bobby Tomek.223 with a 1:8
Well, I have a new toy on the way from a forum member: a 26" VVCG bull barrel in .223 with a 1:8. I can't wait to see how some of the heavyweights shoot in it. I plan on concentrating on the 75 grain Hornady A-MAx bullets but will give the MKs a whirl as well.
Now comes that awful bit of waiting, but at least it won't be much more than a week or so...

Bill MCongrats Bobby!
I thought about it when I saw the post, but I have same (except 22" full-bull) from BBW.
Haven't tried the Hornady's, but the 69 Sierras atop RL 15 shoot excellent in mine!
I put the Springfield Armory 4-14X40 (223 reticle) on mine - what are you going to top yours off with?
Best regards, Bill

Bobby TomekMore than likely, it will wear a Nikon Monarch 4-12x w/ AO. But I may put some higher-powered glass on it first to see just what it can really do. But for hunting, it will be the 4-12x.

Dave JenkinsCool Bobby,
Rl 10x is working out real well in my NEF 223 but need to get the Husqvarna out as we had a wind shear come through and drop a couple walnuts across the range....stock material..way I see it.
keep us posted.

Bobby TomekRich-
I plan on mainly punching long range paper with it but will have to give it a try on coyotes. I hope it likes the 75 grain A-Max as I do know it will expand rather well. I also have a couple of boxes of Hornady 68 grain BTHPs and maybe a half-box of Hornady 75 grain BTHPs that I will try, but I have never run expansion tests on these two and would do so before trying them on coyotes. Have you guys tried these, and if so, how do they expand at .223 velocity?
Also, thanks to those for sharing their powder preferences.

Bobby TomekBill-I just discovered I have lied to you! The barrel will wear an Elite 3200 4-12x40 with AO. Thought I had one more Monarch in the safe, but it's an Elite 3200. I do like the Elite scopes, though -- not quite a Nikon Monarch but certainly very good.

No problem Bobby - still a fine choice!
Thanks, Bill
