ark_firemanRe: 45-70 Contender loads needed
I shoot a 300gr sierra JHP pushed by 47.5gr of Reloader 7 (certain manuals show up to 50gr)and WLR primer out of my 16.25" contender. Recoil isn't bad at all (mine has a MT for the time being) Accuracy is great, but i'm seriously considering working up some loads with a little heavier bullets, probably in the 350-375 range.

TCLouisThis SURE AIN'T NO loading suggestion, but I find that 30.4 grains of WC820 behind a 300 grain Remington or Hornady will mosey out about 1567 fps (Sierra says 1500 with H-110) out of my 16.25" barrel. This load will make a oversized ragged hole at 50 and stay on my practice target (clay pigeon) every time at 100. This is the starting load in my manual but it shot so well I never tried anu=ything else. My lot of WC820 matches H110 (shot some of each side by side in several calibers/loadings) very closely in every loading I have tried it in!
Now if I can get it to shoot a cast bullet that well I'll be estatic!
