jffrybrght"and now for something Completely DIFFERENT".......
and it's not from Monty Python!
A forend system for Encores with removeable wood panels. A main rail attached to the barrel, and the option of swapping wood inserts for a "hunter" or "target" style.
One rail is used for factory barrels, and a different rail is used for bull or heavy taper barrels. Mounts with 2 screws and the screws used are the 2 from a factory Encore pistol forend. There is a 3rd hole tapped up front for a sling stud for use with a sling or a bi-pod. Incredibly light for what is involved. No more than a laminated rifle forend.
Each wood panel is held on with 4 #6-40 hex head screws. The same screws are used for either type of panel desired. Coco-bola is the wood of choice with other options coming.
The entire set is for the main rail of your choice....either taper or bull, and would come with 2 sets of panels....1 set for hunter, the other set for target. As more wood options would become available, a price would be be determined to allow multiple color styles using 1 main frame, and 2 panels would come in a set.
Here are peeks of the 2 proto-types I was sent to look at and give feedback on:
First, the "hunter" style on a taper barrel.
The next 2 are with the "benchrest" panel inserts on a bull barrel rail.
More to come on these

GrumulkinI absolutely can't imagine what I'd want this for.

Cold RiderThe ability to change from a "hunter-type" forend to a "Wide flat target-type" forend without changing the barrel pressure points.
Absolutely consistant bedding all the time because you never have to remove the aluminum frame underneath.
'Cides....They look really COOL.

Dm45winmagIt's a "Novel Idea" for people with a single barrel, BUT, I have 5 barrels, so I would still have to remove the forend anyway.

If it could be adapted so the barrel can be removed without taking off the plate then you would really have something for people that want a free floating barrel.
