check out this auction!!!!
I don't know anything about this offer. However, I backed out out of an auction with this fellow because he uses the same picture for multiple entries!!! Just went to Jim @ alwise.com for a brand new Encore frame instead. Thanks to Helobill.

1 thing I just noted, where is the hangar bar? And it is posted from the right side and not the left, where you could see VVCG'S stamping.

Look at his other auctions for frame and barrel combos. Might just be me but it looks like the same frame is used for all of them.

I don't want to throw up a red flag, but he had it listed earlier and had a photo from the opposite side -- and I could not see ANY Virgin Valley stamping on it. Also, I had a couple of questions, and the answers were relatively vague. Here is a link to the "old" auction. Please take a look and see if you can see a stamping on it -- and let us know if you do!

Also, PLEASE take a look at the link below. He may be selling TAKEOFF Remington barrels that have been set up for an Encore! The description certainly leaves much to be desired.

Lastly, the ended auction photos of the .223 and 22-250 barrels appear to be the very same photo. I haven't scrutinized it under a lupe, but it certainly appears to be one and the same. He may be perfectly legit in his sales, but do be careful -- I certainly wouldn't want anyone here to get burned. But also, he does deserve the benefit of the doubt until we check this out further.

Yeah guys, sounds REAL suspicious.... Wonder how the guy who already bought a 22-250 barrel (BT's first link) managed to attach a forend to the barrel????? [Eek!] I'm not a professional, but I agree w/ Bobby in that the 223 Rem and 22-250 barrel pictures sure look identical... Does VVCG do this type of work, still? The last time this came up, I thought they either didn't do "partial" gunsmithing on a barrel, or if they did such work on a barrel the buyer supplied, it was not at a "full" price. Hard to imagine a barrel leaving their shop w/o the forend dovetail locks.... What about it, VVCG's folks.... Is it possible everything here is legit even though there are a lot of "oddities"? [Confused] I've avoided looking at the auctions lately as I'm still recuperating from the "Christmas" presents I bought myself this fall, but thanks anyway for the headsup, JB HHI 7241 and Bobby. I believe I know the answer to this riddle. This is a gentleman that one of my barrel makers did some work for a while back.

This is not a VVCG barrel. He (our barrel maker) took it in as a side project NOT through our company. They are remington 700 Barrels turned down and made into Encores. They don't have our stamp on them and they are not our barrels. In fact, I'm a little angry that he's passing them off as ours. However, if someone ever calls me about them, they will get the full story. Plus, they are not stamped as ours which will cause some problems.

I hope that explains it.

Thanks, Jeff. I had sent a "generic" e-mail to him with a couple questions regarding forend & showing the VVCG stamp. This is the exact reply:

"THE T/C 2 SCREWS TAP FOREARM,THIS WAS MACHINE BY VIRGIN VALLEY NO STAMP,
BECAUSE IT WAS MY BARREL."

There's one thing I might add here. They were not factory barrels. He bought them from brownell's. So, they are probably better quality than you'd get from the factory (it's not as good as Shilen, but not as bad as your average factory barrel either). They were completely machined by us too. I'm willing to bet they will shoot well, but there's no guarantee.

Jeff-
Again, thanks for the info. For a little more than his price, I can get one of your barrels -- which I will be doing in the next month or so (or as soon as I decide on another caliber).

And, the VVCG barrels are a proven commodity...

VV Jeff, Thanks for the additional info to clarify the situation! [Smile] Bobby, you failed to mention one of the other good things about VVCG barrels-they come w/ the "what-cha-ma-callit" on the barrel so you can attach a forend to it. [Wink] Still kinda curious what the guy who already bought one of these barrels is gonna do for a forend. [Confused] I don't think I need one of these barrels right now. Gary T.

Gary-
That's a very good point. I've grown quite accustomed to the hanger bar system and prefer it to anything else.
