Best 357 Herrett Powder for 10" T/C ?
Gents,
I now have primed brass for my 357 Herrett and a supply of 200gr'ers...Anyone have a inkling where powder-wise I should start ? 2400,4227,3031,maybe Win 680? I have a wide and varied selection in the powder cabinet so just because I didn't mention it................45nut

H4227 works well for me in my 10" 357 Herrett pushing 180 gr. Speer FP. Tried WW680 with every primer I could lay my hands on and some rounds would burn nornally, others would flash and boom.

I'll second the H4227 and the 180 Speer. It's a no excuse deer combo.

The H4227 is one of the best powder for the 357 Herrett I use a 150gr Remington bullet and 375 Winchester brass and I get 2187fps out for my 10" BBL with 30.5gr of H4227. This load will shot right around a .5 at 100yds

Well,,,,,
It would seem there is a majority here that is persuasive enough to make me think IMR 4227 is just the ticket for my T/C. Tonight I primed the cases with federal 210's,broke out my Rem 200gr condom bullets and metered 24.1 grs of 4227 for Sunday mornings Rockchuck Disposal Mission.
I shall smite them first with my 218 Bee,settle a few more issues with my 223 and finish with the Herrett. Now to get through the workweek......Sigh ;I 45nut
