xphunterCan you shoot for 100 yards and 200 yards, but not @ 50 with the 22's?
In other words will there be three separate catagories, or do you have to shoot in all three?
I hope my questions make sense.
Thanks

Magnum MikeSorry for the confusion.....i changed it to make more sense.

jshMike, the only thing I would say is if the guy's would do it, barrel length and custom or factory and twist, scope brand and power used. Also not the exact load but what brass, powder, primer and bullet weight and mfg. This would maybe give some insight into what combo is working. As far as this goes the folks could just use a load data sticker , like the ones used for the ammo boxes and stick it to the target to keep the paper work down. ???? Just a thought. NOW, what to shoot.........

KENTNI like the 30 shot target.
Question-In the event of a shoot off will you be counting head shots vs other body parts?
Just how big are the bottom row of flys and where do you find these great targets?
Sign me up!
I hope I get my 222 RMI barrel back in time for that 200 yard shoot.

xphunterI like the 5-fly target that is more brown in color (the one on the left). It will be harder to line them up with something. Plus, everything would be the same size at all ranges.

olefishI think this will be a great way to burn powder and see how my 358 win Lone Eagle does at below 0 temps. here in WY. It has done great on 4 antelopes, 3 deer and a moose with 180 grain ssp hornadys. olefish

LRHA-ShooterMSSmagnum;
I would like to cast my vote for the 5 flies target.
All other rules are fine with me!
Can't wait to get out and shoot!

<SlimL>I also like the 5-Fly target. It does seem like it might be a little more challenging. Everything else is good. Slim

deadeyedickMe thinks Grinder is going to b busy. 5 fly's for me.
Now off to the lathe to make a super tight choke for the 45/410 pistol.

I promise !
Really I do!

<pshooter>I think the 5 fly because of scoring . It's probable for me to shoot a perfect second row fly while actually aiming for a FIRST row fly.

And while it would look impressive, It would be a cheat
![[Frown]](images/icons/frown.gif)
So make it easy on Grinder and use the 5. As for the rules, just keep it simple because this is for fun not for work. Some of us have trouble following complex (3 or 5 shot group

) instructions. mvm

Rich JakeI vote the 5 fly target as well

mbmcoI too vote now for the 5 fly target. Tried shooting it yesterday @ 100 and 200. At 100 I only hit one fly and at 200 didn't hit the paper. Wanted to see the drop at that distance for the 17HMR. In shooting for a 5 shot group @ 200 I was dosn 8" and to the right 2-1/2". But all 5 were within a 2" group. Didn't think it would drop that much. The flies you could see ok with an 8x scope also. Hope this target doesn't turn out to be like the rabbit.

<Leibowitz>Mike like both have had loads of fun shooting at both. But due to the the number of shots require for the later will go with the 5 fly version. I hope that we have some reasonable weather here in North Carolina, so far this month it has been rain, ice,and more rain with a lot of wind. This Southern boy don't like the cold to good.

Magnum MikeWell, it looks like the majority want the 5 fly target so that is what it will be.
Anyone have any input on the 50 yard rimfire matches?? If there is not much interest, i will drop it and stick to the 100 & 200 yard matches.
25 December 2002, 01:57
pahandgunhunterLet's use the 5 shot fly targets. I have a few questions:
If we mounted an ax, blade out, between the flies then shot .....one shot and hit two flies with the halves would there be bonus points available?
Another class?
If we use a 410 shotgun barrel with 3" 00 buck shot loads(I beleive they have exactly 5 pellets), and shot once at 25 yds and the most flies hits wins?
Or how about shooting the target backwards like the "turkey shoot" shooters? The holes would show the penetration backwards?
Please start this match! As you can see I'm getting a little bit more squirrely than usual!
Get me out to the range! My sanity .... what's left is at stake!.
Bill

LRHA-ShooterMSSmagnum;
Please do include a 50 yard target for the .22RF! This is the match that I am most interested in.
Thanks!

B_KoesMike
I certainly have interest in the 50yd .22LR match...I'm sure that Sean would be devastated if he couldn't shoot that match as well!
Hey...can I enter twice? I was just thinking that this would be a decent test for my .22 short match barrel. If not, then I may just try it for fun. Sheesh, I better get out shooting to do some ammo testing...busy, busy, busy!
Merry Christmas y'all and to all of y'all a good night!
25 December 2002, 05:49
Magnum MikeWell, i am glad to see the interest in the rimfire match. It WILL be included.
Brett, we will have 2 1/2 months to shoot these targets soooo, that should give ya some time at the range!
![[Big Grin]](images/icons/grin.gif)
The rules will only allow one target for score per match (i.e. 1 @ 50, 1 @ 100, etc...sorry
![[Frown]](images/icons/frown.gif)
)
25 December 2002, 05:52
B_KoesSigh...I guess that I'll just have to head shoot all the flies for submission into the contest!
![[Wink]](images/icons/wink.gif)
So whatever barrel does this for me is the one that I'll use!
Hey, is the link provided in the first post what I can print out directly for the contest? I wasn't sure if it needs to be scaled or just how that will work to keep things uniform.

I am going to work on that later this week. I will start a new post this weekend with the rules and the target that can be printed for the match.
