Ravenwolf444 Marlin in a Contender?
Finally, after a lot of research, I decided to get a 14" Contender barrel in 444 Marlin. Anyone have and recommendations for loads in this cartridge for Deer and Elk. Please share your experiences with this great big bore. Any help would be greatly appreciated.....RW

<Fireball>Hornady 265 flat point and H322
Also do not be afraid of using the 240 grain XTP
Most claim they wont penetrate well, But I took a mule deer with mine and although it did tear up some meat it DID penetrate very well Breaking the front shoulder going all the way through the deer and breaking the right hind quarter on the way out. And the add FPS from the 240 is nice.
I see no reason for a HARD cast in a 444. They would just punch a hole through the animal.
The 444 in a Contender is a MONSTER
