They are not calling it a recall, it I do not know what else to call it. If you have an MP Shield made before April 4, 2018 Smith and Weason wants has asked that you send it in to have the thump safety updated.

The thumb safety is engaging under fire.

The upgrade to the improved safety is free. I do not own an 380MP Shield. So, I do not know if you can ride the safety down like the 1911.
