Southpaw shooter needs a few recommendations...
On a compact, reasonable weight, easily concealable handgun that can be operated by me, a left-handed shooter.
I was looking at the Ruger SR9 with the ambidextrous controls and was curious what others thought of this pistol?
And I'm also curious to hear what others have to say on left hand friendly handguns...

A/C guyWhile I have no experience with the Ruger SR9, I have been using a Glock 19 for winter carry and a S&W J frame for summer time.
I possible, try before you buy.
A/C guy, do you shoot left handed? Because what I'm really looking for is an ambidextrous pistol. And I'm not finding too many of them in concealable size...

twilliMy Sig Sauer has ambidextrous safety but can't find a left handed holster. Bailing twine isn't working out so good!!

larrysShof, first you have to understand that there are no truely left handed pistols (which I'm sure you do), but only right hand pistols that can be converted to semi functional for us lefties. As for the SR9, it is a good functional pistol that should serve you well. It still has the slide stop on the wrong side. The only thing I do not like is the magazine disconnect that will not allow it to fire without the mag. In a high stress situation, if you accidentally hit the mag release,I still want the one round in the chamber to fire. But that is a personal preference.

LOL, it's going to take a little more than that to get me to use my right hand for much more than a place to hang my wrist watch.

larrysBut Butch, that would mean I would not be in my "right" mind.

Being mostly ambidextrous, I have friends that send me all kinds of truely left handed stuff. The best was a left handed pocket knife and some left handed trimming shears.
