One Second After

Overview: Overnight, the world's trains, planes, cars, trucks, phones, computers, power plants and electrical equipment come to a sudden screeching stop.

Nor will they ever start up again.

The world is in chaos, and everyone wants to know why.

Some evangelicals believe the Rapture is at hand.

Other fundamentalists see the Cloven Hoof of Satan in the catastrophe.

UFO cultists preach the coming of intergalactic aliens.

Secularists envisage a host of earthly enemies - Chinese communists, Islamic fanatics, eco-terrorists, and energy industry magnates.

New Agers prophesize the dreaded Mayan apocalypse.

Is it aliens from space or is it the apocalypse?

Human violence or the wrath of an angry god?

Whatever the cause, the modern age has come to an end.

Looting, food riots, and global insurrection are the order of the day, and the New Dark Ages are suddenly upon us.

Can this global anarchy be stopped?

Can the End Time be reversed?

A small mountain village in the American South is humankind's last best hope. Big Grin

First off do not remove any gaskets around your gun safe door, The are there for fire protection. The heat makes then swell up and seal the door from fire and smoke. Here's some info

Just got through with the book. Not a good thing to happen in real life.
The fact that .22 and shotgun shells became money was interesting. What would be fun is no hot showers, in fact no clean running water.

I read that book about a year ago, and it presents a truly frightening scenario. The worst part is, it COULD happen. If it ever does, life as we know it will change for a very long time, and for many, forever.

I also read the book a year ago and it frightened the bejesus out of me. Of course, the book postulated a worst case scenario.

A book similar to this one worth reading is "Lights Out" by David Crawford.

I sat down and made up a list of what it would take for our family of six to survive for a year under similar circumstances. It was a big list costing lots of $$$$.

I could definitely see ammo and water being used as currency. A co-worker of mine is sitting on 10k factory .223 and 5k .45ACP for that purpose.

If your sitting on a horde of anything like food or such. Should you expound on it at work?

I wouldn't advertise that information except in general, but that's up to him.

That's a good point. Anyone who may prepare for a worst case scenario would be wise to keep that information to themselves. In a worst case scenario, that stuff would be highly desirable to steal from someone.

I think the fear that Newt Gingrich postulated about having a nuke tipped missile fired from a container ship in the Gulf of Mexico is one that could happen, and if it did explode 200 miles above the earth, as suggested, it would stop everything over most of the USA.

You all do know that one of the provisions of the Patriot Act was to outlaw having more than one year's supply of food in your home per family member. A friend, who is LDS says the church said to comply.

Hypothetical Situation: although not a member of that church I did go with the PA and now have just one year's supply of food here. 4500 calories per day for each member of the family for 364 days.

I'd certainly like to see you source that little tidbit in the text of the Patriot Act.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

I hadn't heard about food hoarding being a violation of the Patriot Act. When I Googled it, I saw a lot of different forums referencing this. So, Rich is getting this from somewhere. I looked over several of the forum posts, but no one ever sited where in the Patriot Act one can find this. So, I poured over the Patriot Act. And I also looked over revisions of 2003. Not an easy read, but I really searched and, I couldn't find anything about it. The closest I could find was in Title VIII, Section 805 which prohibits material support to terrorists. Maybe someone figured stockpiling food could be perceived as a possible material support, put it out on the internet, and it went viral? Idk.
If anyone else knows where it is, I'd appreciate it if they could site it. But, I couldn't find it.

Patriot Act be damned. They just passed a bill giving each secretary control over all that falls under there care. Other words Sec ag could take any and all farm equipement that you own. The sec def could take any stock pile of arms, ammo or food that you have and give it to who he wants. Sec trans could take control of all trucking company or owner operator rigs. This means they control what you have to eat, how you travel anda host of other things. Before you ask I'll try and find a link or a title you can google.

It's one thing to read all the common conspiracy BS on the internet, it's something entirely different to repeat it like you know it's true. People should be ashamed of themselves.
