M855 is not stopped by these plates and that is a very common round. A major design fault.

M855 is not AP. This body armor stopped .30/06 rounds, and .308 rounds, and the 5.56 rounds barely deformed the back. We weren't told which round of 5.56 was tested, but can't assume that this level 3 body armor won't stop M855.
