S&W-VarminatorBest defense load for my S&W M&P .40?
I tried the Golden Saber bullet made by Remington, and when i tested it, the core separated from the jacket just by going through water and cardboard with a trash bag liner.
I know they will work well enough for now but does anyone out there have a bullet they have tested and really liked???

p dog shooterThe 165 gr golden saber is one of the top rated 40 cals out there. If you don't want a bullet that comes apart. Winchester and hornaday both have a bonded core bullet out there. I carry the 165 golden sabers they are a great bullet.

impala#03I use Gold Dots in my 380, 40 S & W, and 45. I have not had to shoot a human yet, but that is what they are for.

rigsI use the 165 grain Federal Hydra Shok. We did some penetration tests with them where I work and they held up very well. I should also note that I live in a cold weather area and we did some shooting through heavy clothing and they expanded "most" of the time when shot through a winter jacket.

meteThe best of them is Corbon DPX [Barnes bullet].
It's hard to find a bad load except 'reduced recoil' loads. So take your pick. I like a 155 since it has the same trajectery as a 9mm.

Bob in TXDitto for the Gold Dots. There is a reason so many police forces carry them, including our State Troopers here in Texas.
.380, .38, .357, 9mm, .40

Woodrow SGold Dots in 38Special/357mag and original Black Talons in 45ACP, 40 S&W and 10mm auto. All factory loads. Don't need the additional risk of legal crap with handloaded ammo.
