I have one of those that I carried for about 35 or so years, gave it to my grandson..Need a replacement, and Like what I see in the new one..but don't intend to pay blackmarket price.

A Colt 1911 in 9mm comes with a 9-rnd magazine to give a total of 10 rounds in the pistol. Nice aftermarket 10-rnd magazines are available that don't change the grip length and give you 11 rounds on tap. That's not 17 but it's not bad.

I went with a Colt 1911 in 38 Super, same capacity as the 9mm. I'm thinking of sending it off to Wilson for a 9mm barrel, spring and magazine -- their dual caliber 38 Super/9mm conversion set up. Hunting loads are available for 38 Super that produce over 525 ft/lbs in a 1911.

Ray, keep your eyes open, I still see them from time to time at a reasonable price. A few months ago I bought a Belgium model from another AR member here for $650.00.

I sold it to a friend down the road, I can't shoot revolvers since my hand surgery. and I turned around an bought a Kimber, Its the first Kimber 45 Ive owned..It seems to feed and function and shoots like a target pistol and its the best gun for the buck Ive seen in pistols at $850. but Ive only shot it about 25 times, so we will see..

Never hurts to ask. I carry a Kimber 1911 in my truck + it's a good piece. I don't carry my Les Baer as if I had to use it I would most likely lose it.

Found a Springfields SA-35 at last and is it ever a dandy, talk about fit and finish, its the best of the Hi-Power knock offs, and better than my old HiPower browning Im thinking, but schools still out on that..Got into mine for $900. after shipping, FFL charge etc...Most I found fetched $1200 or better. When available they will sell fo $666.00 but I figure at my age I better jump while the jumping's good and grab one..I love it.

How does it preform.

Ive shot it some, maybe a couple of hundred times, its almost perfect but the trigger is clean and crisp with a damn hitch at the last, I suspect it got past the assembly gang..It's an easy fix and may go away in time, other than that it beats my HI POwer and I had a trigger job on it early on, sooo I'll give the Springfield a walk on that one. I love the grips and how they fit on the Springfield Just a bit different..
