Springfield XDm
I didn't find any comments on the new XDm Springfields after searching through the forum. I am considering the purchase of a 9mm XDm and would like some feedback from anyone to assist in making this decision.

What I presently like is the capacity. 19+1 in a 9mm. From what I am reading of some of the newer offerings in 9mm ammo there are some great choices that equal out the playing field between the 9, 40 and 45. The pistol fits my hand and comes to sight very easily. Springfield has a promotion on for the next few weeks, 3 free mags with purchase of pistol.

What are you guys hearing, seeing related to the XDm series?

Several guys at work have them and love them. Most are shooting 40S&W.
I thought about getting a 40 then putting a 357sig barrel in it.

As for the 9mm trying to catch up to the 45ACP, I'll just say "I don't think so" apply that same technology across all three calibers and the 9mm is still behind.

I tell all the rookies to not buy anything that doesn't start w/a "4", unless its a 10mm.

That ought to get thing stirred up. LOL

COOL
A great series of pistols.
9mm self defense loads have come a long way in the past 10 years.

The XDm is an excellent pistol, very well made. You might enjoy this video on the XDm I made a while back. http://web.me.com/davesgunvide...ld_Armory_XD(M).html

Agreed, the XD series of pistols has really had no real issues.
It's effectively a glock (not exactly but it fills the same role), but the ergonomics are better (and I have more than a couple glocks but I wouldn't buy anymore)
slightly cheaper to purchase, just as reliable, better ergo's

what's not to like.

9mm used to be better when ammo was a lot cheaper than 40 or 45
now??????????????
eh

Better to have a gun and carry it than to not be carrying a gun at all.

Although I would go with the .40 S&W.

The Springfield XD is a great pistol. I especially like the grip safety feature (similar to a M1911). I prefer the Springfield XD over the Glock (have Glocks in M27 and M23).

I would also recommend the .40S&W caliber over the 9mm

Got a 9mm like it fine. Nice hi-cap pistol. Still like my 1911 better. But I figured it never hurts to have backup.

When you are fighting for your life the more ammo the better. 19 rounds compared to 8 in 1911 I'll take that any time.

The XD is a very well thought out pistol, IMHO. The XDm just seems to be more of the same.

13+ rounds of .45acp isn't "chopped liver". Wink

That high cap .45 XDM is tempting. I just haven't had the opportunity to handle one. Is the grip size about the same as the .45 and .40?

The pistol fits my hand and comes to eye very easily/naturally in the 9mm configuration. I'm looking at the 3.8 XDm.

I have an XD in 5" "Tactical" 45 ACP. Tactical is the "short mag / long mag" option, 10 rd. or 13 rd.

Glock Tactical Laser GTL 21. This as the dedicated truck gun, or open carry in the field. With the laser, it's like having a high capacity shotgun in the truck. Point and shoot.

The Springfield XD is taking all sorts of awards. "Gun Of The Year" in Guns & Ammo. (I think Guns & Ammo.)

Great design, great manufacturer, great warranty and customer support. Trigger is much, much nicer than a stinkin' Glock.

The M is a bit better engineered than the standard XD, especially for those with shorter fingers or smaller hands. I carry the XD compact in .45 ACP. Both the standard and M models in .45 hold 13 plus one.
