Summer carry

Well I had to have a small auto for summer CC.
I bought a S&W Bodyguard in 380. Very nice little pistol. Plenty accurate & comes with a under the barrel laser that has a pulsing option too. Very comfy to carry too. You forget that you are carring it.

I have determined for me, that the best Summer Carry is a Colt Commander [the one most call the Light Weight Commander], in a GWM Davis, or a Milt Sparks IWB Summer Special holster.
I also carry at least 2 extra mags, most times 4 extra mags, as well as a S&W Bodyguard in my pocket...

So, you guys must be wearing some kind of outer garment (light jacket, vest), right? Down here in FL wearing one when it is 95 outside would be a dead giveaway.

kinda hard to hide anything much bigger than a little 380 when all you have on is a tee shirt and shorts. the keltec, ruger, sig 238, or colt mustang come to mind

If one can get away with wearing a untucked shirt one can hide a lot.

Heck when I was open carring in AZ this winter I would say 90 percent of the people didn't even notice that you were armed.

During the winter I do carry a 1911 Combat commander but in warm weather with less cloths I just feel that it might be conspicous. A 380 with hollow points is not equal to a 45 ACP that I agree but you hit someone in the center of mass at say 15 feet I think the threat is pretty much over.

I just started carrying a Glock 27 in a Crosbreed IWB holster. Of course I have to wear my shirt tail out and wear a belt to keep my pants up. I also had to buy some 2" larger pants and belt. If I can lose 10 lbs I won't need the larger pants. I'm trying to figure out where to carry an extra magazine. I was carrying a S&W airweight 38spcl in an ankle holster but I could only carry it with baggy pants. I'm trying real hard to carry all the time. I was suprised that you can carry in my credit union.

I decided on a Kimber 'Ultra Carry II' in stainless with a Tagua middle back holster....

I can wear my shirt un-tucked and conceal it good enough for most enviroments. Since I mostly wear camo cargo pants (BDU's in many colors) an extra magazine is easy to add....

I can also put it in the rear pocket of the tank bag when I am on the bike.

What worked for me was getting rid of my Ruger LCP
and buying a Taurus TCP. What a fine difference.
The Taurus comes with two magazines and a belt pouch (which I do not use). A much better trigger, locks back on last shot and surprisingly accurate at the distances it was intended for.

My Glock 29 works real well in the rear pocket of my jeans! I simply wear a long T-shirt and it hides the pistol impression. I wear colored shirts not white.

Unfortunately I can not wear an untucked shirt so anything in the waistband is out of the question. I have been using the cell pal holster for a few years and carry a kimber ultra CDP II but soon it will be a kimber solo or Sig p290. I bought a Ruger LCP for the wife and she didn't like it and the more that I shoot it I agree with her. Don't like the long trigger pull and the lack of locking to the rear after the last round.

Antelope Sniper,
at first she didn't like how it almost jumped from her hands. She is used to shooting a 6" Mod 66. The little auto was deciving to her. She was thinking small cute little gun will be easy to shoot. She shot it several different times but her major complaint is the long trigger pull each and every time. If it was like the Glock's trigger pull then maybe she would have warmed up to it more.

We have had only 2 days in the last 2 months that I have had to worry about summer carry. A jacket or heavie shirt has been needed on all the others.

Anybody who carries a .380 is just kidding themselves.

Don't get me wrong; I went through the phase myself. I've got the AMT DAO to prove it.

But a shovel swung with everything you've got is one hell of a lot more weapon.

But the range on the shovel is only contact distance. Hard to hit somebody if you can't get to them.

And they are a lot bigger and havier to carry.

I'll take a 380 over a shovel any day.

I don't think you would be willing to take a couple of 90jhps to the chest any more the you would be willing to be hit with a shovel.

I will grant you that a .380 is a lot easier to carry around than a shovel. And much more inconspicuous.

But my homeowner's association has been on my butt to do something about my yard. So I've been becoming more intimate with the gardening tools than I'd otherwise prefer.

So I'll see your 90 grain JHP and raise you 3000 grains of hoe.

Most of the time its a BlackHawk Serpa thats whats it is in rt now. I have a fobus that gets some use a couple of differant fanny packs, a uncle mikes nylon shoulder rig and a old Bianchi nylon pancake that is use for about every thing I have.

No one holster is perfect for every thing.

Having investgated a couple of murders with 22rf
you don't want to get shot with anything.

A 90grjhp or a 22rf in your chest or any soild body hit ruin your day.

Mayjor surgery will be required to keep you alive If you do live you well spend weeks recovering. If not longer.

But so well a soild hit from a hoe. But the range on a hoe is 6 feet or so.

I have had no trouble hitting out pass 25 yards with my PPK.

p dog shooter, I didn't mean to get on your bad side.

It was just that the way the story was developing reminded me of a certain someone.

And you're right; all in all I'd prefer not to get shot in the chest with a .380 ACP.
