Dago RedJust made my initial CCW interview appointment - May 2011
Well fellas, I really shouldn't have kept holding off. I kept waiting to call and get started on the process because 1. I needed the money for the permit 2. I want to get one more gun first to put on there. But I called today, figuring I'll do it now and then add another gun later. Looks like is going to take me a year all told. First interview isn't until May!!!!! Wow. But Margaret Mimms, the sheriff here, is supposed to be great and the reason it takes so long is there are so many people getting them. (I kick myself for letting mine go).
I guess the good news is that I have time to decide on another handgun, and save money for it. I am thinking the Glock G27 or S&W 329 setup for moon clips. I don't know if the latter is practical, and it's about double the cost by time all is done.
I have a Taurus 85 and a small italian 25auto that will be going on there.

mstarlingWhen I got the first one, it took a court action and an appearance before a judge. Was a MAJOR PITA. Is much better these days in most places.
And the world hasn't fallen apart because of it. Go figure

Skipper488In TN you have to take a one day class, 4 hours classroom 4 hours on the range. After successfully completing the course fill out the paperwork, wait for a background check and receive your permit in the mail supposed to be within 90 days from applying with passed course to receive permit. When I applied they said it was running closer to 4-6 months, I had a secret clearance in the Navy and my brother is in the FBI, our family has been thoroughly background checked, I received my permit in less than 3 weeks.

RyanBTexas has bad gun laws. I can't have most NFA stuff, but I didn't need a class for my permit, it's shall issue in 30 days (mine was six, USPS is slow) and I can carry a revolver or auto without worrying about a distinction.
There are now four states that allow permitless carry.
