AtkinsonMaking mention of a clip fed auto..
Some if not most of the compact autos on the market today that most of us have overlooked is the difficulty of us older curmudgeons loading the clips with grizzled and arthritic hands, its damn near impossible and I suggest keeping that second clip full and with the gun at all times if possible. Those clips are bound to last into the next 4 or 5 centuries...

Bill/OregonRay, I was wearing a Smith and Wesson Shield Plus in 9 during the final phase of my job at the Otero County NM shooting range, and I'll be damned if I was ever able to get 12 in the magazines even with a loader.
There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.

Peter ConnanI have seen a couple of very ingenious loading tools that make the job a whole lot easier, but not sure if any are still being manufactured.
The best one I saw had a lever which grabbed the groove of the case, first pushing it down and then drawing it back into the magazine.
Most other just push the previous round loaded deeper into the magazine, and these are pretty simple and should be easy to duplicate.

TCLouisThere is a fellow shoots with us that suffers with his semi auto.
Finally bought a loader to load the magazines, but his real issue is racking the slide on his Glock!

I was asked by a older lady to show her how to handle a small semi auto 9mm.
That her husband brought for her.
Same problem hard time with the slide.
I had her dry fire it a bit. Loaded it for her told her to come over for some live fire practice.
We well see if she does.

cgbachI know of a few older shooters that have put away their compact autos and replaced them with revolvers. There is always the New York reload.

AtkinsonI always preferred a Browning HP and its perforance on mankind but the revolver loads easier and a jam is just another trigger pull away with a double action or grandpaws colt SS.

p dog shooterI have a XD-M match that the mags hold 13 45acp.
The 12th and 13th go in hard.
But then if I put in 11 feed one into the chamber replace that round in the mag. I have 12 rounds of 45acp ready to go.
Not to bad.
In all realty is 15 rounds in a 17 round mag that bad ect.
Or has ray said I can just have my son load my every day carry mags to full

AtkinsonMY HI Power functions best with 12 but crams 14, 12 is plenty IMO for daily use and search warrents, on a Mexican lab in Mexico or the middle East carry 4 clips and a loaded gun.
