daniel77What do you carry?
What is your personal defense weapon of choice?
I have a .41 mag S&W and a 12 gauge by the bed. Snub nose .38 for personal carry.

onefunzr2Kel-Tec P3-AT .380ACP loaded with Cor-Bon DPX hollowpoints when I dress in light clothing or while riding my FatBoy.
Glock 33 .357SIG loaded with DPX hollowpoints when I can cover it with heavier clothing.
Taurus Totally Titanium 5 shooter in 45 Colt loaded with DPX hollowpoints when in black bear territory.
Taurus PT-945 45ACP by the bed. Guess what kind of ammo?
I also have a CZ 82 9mm Makarov in my pickup.
Factory fresh ammo in them all. I reload for practice only.

daniel77my dad also has a 9mm Makarov for his truck gun. sweet little pistol.
Keep a 9mm S & W in the truck and a Glock 32 .357 Sig for carry. Looking for something different for carry though, considering the LCP by Ruger, or some other hammerless variant. Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag in bear country.

Wm.S.LaddSorta like asking what shoes you wear. There's places where I don't carry anything, and places where I won't carry less than a 12 gauge, or AK.

mstarlingA P7M8 in the summer, and a 1911 of some kind in the winter. Usually have a 32 ACP Seecamp as backup.
In the field I use a 3" M657 Round butt S&W in 41 Rem Mag.

Series 70 Colt, worn smooth by years of daily carry - and tens of thousands of rounds! Not much of that elegant bluing left either.

Wm.S.Ladd"Designer ammo" -- I'm gonna start a new thread in here. If the gun is "enough gun" anything you shoot in it is gonna do the job. I can't see spending heaps of money on some jerk who's just gonna end up dead.

That might be true if you are carrying a .50 BMG.

I love the look of worn guns. New is nice, but there is something familiar about one that has the handles and blueing "broke in" just so. I'm not talking about rusted and beat up, just used.

Wm.S.LaddGawd --
I've searched about two decades now looking for an "ideal" carry gun. What it'd be is something about the size of an NAA Guardian or Kel-Tec P-32, high cap mag, and .357 magnum or 45 ACP.
That said, here's the "collection" and I've given up "trading in." I just keep them, and move on.
Makarov -- Double stack, "commercial" model. This is a Ruskie by Ishvesk, 12 rd., some sort of custom grips I got from Makarov.com. I just can't warm up to 9mm X 18.
I had a .380 ACP Colt Mustang, short barrel. It was nice, but .380 ACP don't make it. That got traded for a Springfield 1911 -- because basically they're both the same design, different calibers.
Smith Mod. 60, .357 snubby. Bobbed the hammer because it kept pokin' me.
Smith Mod. 10, 4" bbl. ported, trigger job.
Ruger Security Six, 6" bbl. or is it 7" ?
Springfield 1911's -- Mil Spec and Ultra Compact.
Uzi Jericho, 9mm
NAA Guardian, 32 ACP
Springfield XD, 5" "Tactical" 45 ACP, Glock laser. I keep that in the side pocket of the truck.
Buncha long guns, lever guns, shotguns, AK's, Uzis, sniper rifles, scoped stuff. For "defense" I'm partial to the Rem. 870 -- just yer basic, generic police "riot gun."
Lately it's the Smith, Mod. 60, snub, .357 in a Galco pancake under a sweatshirt. Some sort of 158 gr. JHP.
My S&W 642 was good for carrying just about anywhere on your person. Boot, small of back, pocket. Inside the waist wasn't too comfortable due to the cylinder, but that was easily fixed by just wearing looser pants. It is an Airweight in +P which means it kicks pretty good, but it is meant for self defense and not plinking. You won't even notice recoil when it comes down to business.
The wife has it now so I carry a Colt Defender.
I have other full size options, but why carry a heavier gun when ammo is the same?

Ol BullConcealed carry guns are a Glock 19 with Hydroshocks or a TRP with Gold Dots or XTP's. Also a S&W 386 NG with Hydroshocks or a S&W 629 3" with Federal 200gr LHP's.

I'm not a real pistol sort. I generally like 1911's and single actions (but not for carry). Griz, I like that .45 you posted for carry purposes. Might it be for sale?
For home defense and in my truck, my favorite is a .454 Casull double action. It will get the job done, but it's difficult to conceal, so won't really work for concealed carry. Also, you've got to be conscious of what's in the next room/house behind the target.
I don't have much use for anything under .45 calibre, I like a big hole.
I'd welcome suggestions on a good carry gun -- .45 or over. Would like something small -- relatively.

Ol BullLavaca, take a look at the Springfield Armory LW Champion.

It'll be my next.

Thanks Bull. I'll check it out.

Springfield XD, concealed hammer, no "confusing" safeties. (I carried a 1911 in the Army. It's not "confusing.")
Lighter, 14 rd. capacity. Laser rail. And way easier to field strip.
That said, I have two 1911's. I don't like to carry them concealed.

1911's are not for the weekend shooter, proper training is required IMHO. If more firepower is required a 14 shot magazine high capacity 1911 is my choice. A 1911 is my preferred CCW

N E 450 No2My Primary carry gun has been a 1911 or a S&W 44 Mag, since 1967...
With the exception of the years I was required to carry a Glock 17...
I have NEVER EVER carried only one gun... And depending on what my assignment was, many times I rivaled Chic Gaylord...
Some days I still do...
