Tahr color
I have been kicking around the prospect of doing a Tahr hunt in a couple of years. While doing some research I looked thru a lot of tahr images.
Some of the coats are just beautiful. Big blonde mane and dark chocolate bodies. In a lot of the pics the coat is not that colorful.

Whats the difference?

I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.

Time of year mostly. they get blonder as winter goes on and the sun bleaches their hair.

Time of year is correct. By late Winter the coats have become quite faded and overall appearance drab compared to Autumn.
Usually capes are prime through May and June which coincides with mating.
Some hunters like the faded look but personally I think prime capes are best.

To me, a bull Tahr is one of the most impressive mounts there is.

March bull
April bull

June bull

June bull young

November bull

All west coast bulls and to be honest I don't think they spend the same time in the sun as east coast and tend to be a little darker on average.
