GreybeardBushmanFrank O'Reilly's Gun shop.
I was there one day in 1973 when a guy from a gun club asked for two ton of No 7 shot and the old Guy never really hesitated. He just said, that will be so many $ and go to----
When he was in High Street in that tiny shop, I went there one Saturday morning before Duck Opening thinking I could get some ammo and the crowd was so bad I left.
He certainly has moved along that street a bit.
I still remember just how cheap his imported stuff from Europe weas.

RLII remember up to early 1980's you would stand 10 deep during a saturday morning and everyone was buying not so now

ConThe store is still reasonably busy on a Saturday morning, definately more so than any other place. Interesting that they've dropped the fishing gear, they say there is now more money in the guns compared to the fishing gear, a total reversal compared to the 60s through to 70s.
Cheers...

416SWthe reason there is no money in fishing gear is China in a word and the likes of Kmart.

tracksI also use to frequently visit Frank's from the early 70's onward, driving down from Shepparton just to visit the shop and buy my gear. Things haven't realy changed that much except for the crowds, still hard to get through on the phone but that's Frank's,

Sambar 9.3That's because they are too busy serving customers. I rang all over OZ looking for 9.3x74R ammo or cases, with no luck. Finally get through to Franks, "Nah, sorry, no ammo. Hang on might have some cases, but I will need to look out the back". Fair enough, I had to head out that way anyhow. Stuck my head in the door about an hour later, he says how many do you want? There was a box of perhaps 2,000 new norma 9.3x74R cases, all loose.
Cheers, Dave.

Yep, that hasn't changed in 30 years. They were the same in the early 70's, when Frank traded as the 'AMDP Coy.' from the shop in High Street.
You really have to pick your time to ring them - just after opening, midweek, is about as good as I've found. Fax works OK, if there's room for them to write the reply on the page, and just send it back.
