Gunsafe inspection
Well had my first safe inspection today. Went very smoothly, nice couple of QLD police officers, only one small item out of place which I'll have to bring up with Firearms registry.

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Well they ring to organize a convenient time/day (This visit was our third attempt as real jobs popped up for the police before the previous two)

They come around with a list of firearms you are supposed to have. Check that if your safe is under 250kg that its bolted to the floor or wall and just mark off the serial numbers. My old Tower muzzle loader was supposed to be taken off my license BUT its still on, so that will be a conversation I have with the registry.

so everything is on a register? Sorry to be a pain , but since our police seem to follow what yours do I am curious how your system works - as we are sure to go down the same rabbit hole before too long here...

Yeah Firearms registry has a list of weapons you have. Make, Model, serial number, caliber and weapons' class (A or B i.e. rimfire or centrefire) although the list that the police have sometimes does not match the list the registry has (I know don't get me started)

In Vic they just turn up with no prior appointment made.
I have had three done over a lot of years as I had moved house a few times. First thing you do in Vic on moving home is that you install your gun safe correctly. I comply.

.

Doesn't sound all that bad. Germany - depending on which State - they can knock on your door anytime and ask to check/inspect your firearms. You can so 'not now' and they will come back with an order to inspect. When they do they are also checking what you have vs register and also how ammo is stored.

Friend's son was checked last year in Munich and had a loaded pistol in his safe. That cost him his license! All gone!

Netherlands they can and do turn up at all hours and check. And with Netherlands being totally lead free if they find a single lead bullet or shotgun cartridge in your safe thats it, game over!

I guess Germany is not so bad and we have a good relationship with our local forearms team. Makes things easier!
