CunninghamAmmo to NZ
Can someone bring ammo to NZ for a hunting trip without bringing the rifle? The clients will be using the Outfitters rifle.
The folks will be touring for a week or so before their hunt and do not want to hauyl the rifles around with them during that week before their hunt.
Thank you for any info you can give me on this.

highlanderWE often have our hunters bribg ammo only. Same deal, they done want to carry a rifle around after the hunt as they tour.
No problems what so every, off the top of my head there is a 5kg limit. Just declare it aon your customs arrival card and enjoy the hunt.

muzzaAsk your airline first - some are not too happy about ammo .
But , under the IATA ( International Air Transport Assn ) Regulations each passenger is allowed to carry up to 5 kilograms ( 11 lbs approx ) of sporting ammunition. It has to be securely packaged in original manufacturers packets , in your checked luggage , and each persons 5 kgs cannot be packed in with someone elses 5 kgs . And you do have to declare it .
getting ammo into and out of NZ is simple - getting it out of , and back into , your own country is maybe not so easy.
And dont even bother trying to take ammo into Australia , the paperwork will trip you up before you get close to official approval.....
