muzzaA New Hunting/Fishing Book
Just finished reading a great book by Peter Ryan , called Wild South - Hunting & Fly-Fishing The Southern Hemisphere.
Its a modern hunting journal of the authors journey through his life doing what he loves best , but written in a way that isnt remotely stuffy or the same as all those other hunting/fishing books.
Heres a link to a you tube trailer for the book, take a look and form your own opinion. As an avid reader of hunting books , this one is probably my current favourite , and that is to say it beats out a vast number of the noted classic writers from Africa and locally. The fact my copy is autographed may just be a coincidence ;-)

Bren7X64Got it - reading it. Not quite what I expected - I was expecting a "then we choppered in, and I shot all four red deer, before stalking to a tahr at last light and blowing him away".
It's more like the old Dick Wolfe (?) stories in the back of the G&A all those many years ago.
I'm enjoying it.

highlanderReally good to have a hunting book thats not about hunting but the personal journey of the hunter.
I've got several copies sitting in front of me right now and I'll do with them exactly what i did with the first 5. Send them to friends/clients that own dogs, and like the journey that takes us fishing and hunting.
I cant put things as well as Pete but I sure as hell get exactly what he talks about and feels.
Best book I've read in ages.

Oscar128This is an outstanding book. Among the best, if not the best, I've read from NZ writers.
I'm not that fussed on fishing or on African hunting personally (I can see the attraction) but found the stories about each very engaging. Well worth a purchase
I see
highlander gets a nice mention in there too
