Hi All,
I will have to fly from Sydney to wepia and was wondering which air line is the best to travel with when you are carrying firearms

What choices do you have flying to weipa anyhow?

Virgin (do they fly there??) is really easy, just show up. Qantas and Jetstar you apply for a simple permit that you can present at check-in if anyone gives you any grief... it is kind of like a pre-authorisation.

Are you in the Nepean group going up there?? Sorry mate, I am trying to place you...

Look the Coffs Show was quiet, less exhibitors for some reason (I didnt go last year as I had something else on)... That said I REALLY enjoyed it and made some great contacts that will hopefully lead to some good work, mostly corporate work.... so I am happy. I am ALWAYS happy to support our local chapter, as they are good guys - Id be pretty keen to see it moved to Tamworth next year and have it stay there for 4-5 years so we can get it cranking... unfortunately I dont have the time to help them sell it but I would like to.

None like doing it. Just check the regs for each and hope you get them to the destination. Usually no problems going to NZ.

Virgin can be p@#$ks though.

Had some empty cases in my hold baggage (on an interstate flight) which showed up on Xray and they called in the AFP. Overheard the baggage handler bignoting himself to the cops saying how he had thwarted smuggling of concealed ammunition etc etc.

Soon sorted it out with the cops when they realised that it was perfectly legal.

All you need is one idiot who wants to try and spoil your day and Virgin employs lots of them.

Can someone tell me if it is illegal to have plain projectiles in hand luggage?

It is not a case of it being illegal... it is a case of if the security people will let you on the plane with it. My brother and I were nearly arrested once because he was wearing an 'offensive' belt-buckle...
