Satin Bower Bird (IMM)
These birds fascinate me with their antics in the garden.
They are well known for building their bowers and also for their love of blue..anything that are able to be picked up or stolen..clothes pegs..always blue only.
I have been feeding them cut up ice cream containers /shotshells and marbles, they take them all and display to the hens.
The imm cock birds will eventually get their blue black adult plumage to go with their plunder.

Blue is their 99% fave..I have seen a fair few yellow leaves (as in a pic) carried about too. But give them a chance at 100 yellow clothes pegs and 5 blue pegs and they wont look at the yellows.

With the price of blueberries its cheaper to feed them clothes pegs and shotshell cases.

Yes George we have an amazing array of birds in all sizes and colours in Australia and most of them are great subjects for the camera or simply watching.

There are quite a few Gang Gang cockatoos around home but are a bit tough to get in tight to them.

Big Wonderful Wyoming
I did not know about those things when I lived in Canberra.

We fed birds for a while but got tired of the cockatoos destroying everything.

Bowerbird - Canberra Birds

There is only one species found in and around Canberra, the Satin Bowerbird, whose bowers are distinguished by the bright blue objects used for decoration.
