Con and the 350 Rem Mag
Con are you still using your 350 Rem Mag . How is load developement progressing . I have started working up loads with the 250gn Woodleigh . Hopefully they will feed without difficulty .

Mark,
I'll dig up my load data with the 250gr Woodleigh when I find my reloading book. Mine now feeds fine after some very light rail touch-ups. Weather's getting cool ... might be time to dust her off and get her ready Big Grin.
Cheers...

Mark,
Rem case, WLR primer, 250gr Woodleigh, 51gr AR2206 (52.5gr listed max.) shoots well in my rifle and is mild. Also good is ... 225gr Partition with 54gr AR2208.

I've now run out of AR2206 ... so will replace it with RL15 or AR2208 whichever proves best.
Cheers...

Thanks Con . I have just got back from Little River shooting 250 gn Woodleighs behind 56 2208 . I also tested it feeding these rounds and fortunately they fed without difficulty . It would certainly make a good sambar rifle but it will take a bit of work before then . It needs the trigger improved , bead blasting and a new recoil pad .
Also finally fired my 338 RUM . Always makes an impression when there is 100 gns of powder behind a 250gn bullet ! It took Bob DeVries a lot of work to correct the butchery by the first gunsmith , Wally Albert . I would avoid him .

Good to hear it's all going well. Now email Woodleigh and beg him for a 225gr PP or a 275gr RN for the .35s Big Grin.

Hawk bullets makes a 275gr round nose,as well as a 300gr RN, North Fork makes a 270gr, and Swift makes a 280gr A-frame, but you would probably need a 1-14" or 1-12" twist for these heavy weights, Cheers.....

fgulla,
Can't get them in Oz Frowner Luckily on twists ... Ruger made a common sense move and used a 1:12" in their 350RemMag.

It is possible to get the Swifts Con . It takes a bit of work . Were you planning to use the heavier projectiles in the 350 Rem Mag or one of your bigger projects .

Mark,
Just for interests sake I've tried the 310gr Woodleigh in both a 35Whelen (1:16") and 358Win (1:14") ... the Whelen showed tipping at 200m whilst the 358Win tipped them at 100m. It's why I'm so adament that all .35s should have a 1:12" barrel. I've still got about 35 of them, so eventually I will give them a go in the 350RemMag. But honestly I think the best all-rounder for the short .35s is a 225gr spitzer like the Nosler Partition.
Small piece of advice however ... when buying 250gr projectiles, take a fired case into the store with you. Some projectiles have the cannelure placed wrong for the short 350RemMag. You end up having to seat deeply to feed from the magazine and then you cant hold the projectiles in the neck, or are forced to try and crimp onto the ogive which doesn't work. Problem would be worse in the shorter box of the Rem673 compared to the Ruger.
Cheers...

Con have you looked at the 35 Sambar at all . I have an MRC action suitable to build one but the problems of a wildcat are a worry .
