Dont beleive a word Butch says - his wonderfull wife had to shoot everything - although we arent allowed to ask about her flyfishing technique Wink - and Butch was relegated to be chief wine-taster and beer sampling officer.

Great to meet you guys , sorry 'bout the crappy weather but it was Palmy North , a town reknown for crappy weather all year round..

new zealand wine is so much better than australian?

Well, I suppose if Burgundy is the king of wines, Central Otago pinot would have to be the heir apparent.

Not so sure about the cats' effluent from farther north Wink

Of course New Zealand wine is better than Australian wine - everyone knows there is more culture in a pot of yoghurt than in all of Australia so there obviously isnt enough to improve your wine either dancing

I suspect wines goodness or lack of it is an intensely personal thing - you either like it or you dont .I'd rather have a beer myself.....

Times change, Muzza.
Some of the Kiwi wine I drank in '78 would have melted the sponge on the stick but Australia's loss under global warming is now New Zealand's gain.

Culture? Where's my Browning - there, with the Peter Careys and Henry Lawson (one of Hemingway's favourite writers). But if culture includes things that define the nation, good or bad, I'll put up Crocodile Dundee and Aussie Rules as more distinctive than even Flight of the Conchords and the All Blacks.

None of this makes Australia better than NZ, just better known for eccentricities. (New Zealand beats us hands down with scenery, hunting, walkers and mountain climbers.) Of course many of our cultural icons have come from other places and Australia loves to adopt the Split Ends/Crowded Houses and Russell Crowes arriving on our shores.

Since today is Anzac Day, maybe we should celebrate the things we have in common instead and try to get over the insecurity complexes both countries seem to suffer from.

Cheers

Touche! Gryphon.
From the Aussie perspective, I was referring to the cultural cringe and media obsession with our seedings in all sorts of categories. The fact that I read this stuff probably indicates my part in the paranoia. Do people in other countries care about stuff like this?
