A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

not me personally mate but there has been 70/80 thousand sheep killed, heaps of cattle also plus numerous properties etc, there has been a fire at Kinglake where there are some bloody good sambar too so maybe that affected me a little Razzer

But a bloke has to take his hat off to the volunteer fire brigades that have spent weeks on the fire front for nothing other than to help their fellow man... beer

Missus has their family farm at Kinglake/St Andrews. It was close but all is okay. Not just good Sambar in there gryphon, a few more beasties crawling around in that bushland.
Cheers...

Fires on the Darling Scarp are out and the fire on the coast just south of Perth is under control.

Hopefully the rains are putting out some of the fires.

I guess some of these burned forests in sambar country will be good areas to hunt in the future.

The Moondarra fire is pretty much at the southern end of Sambar range. I've seen them on the side of the road at night just north of Parkers Corner, about 4km out of Rawson.

Had to take a westerly detour [via The Triangle and Noojee to Warragul, for those that know this area] on my way home from the Woods Point clay target shoot last weekend, due to fire road closures. Two Sambar hinds, one half, and the other about three quarter grown, ran along the road in front of me for 500m or so, about 20km out of Noojee.......

The sun was blocked out by smoke from the Grampians fires for a couple of days about two weeks ago. A lot of the locals were up there for days.

It has driven a lot of game out into the bush areas around here. The DSE fire guys put in big hours too (but were well paid for it)

Will be interesting how long the burnt areas take to recover, for the scrub to regenerate.

Yep, some were trapped in re-entrants and cliffs, in the Halls gap area, saw a few carcasses of deer, not many. There are probably more back up in the hills.
At least the fences are fixed, and no-one got hurt.
As for the regrowth, give it till next year, provided we don't have any really big rains, the regrowth will start.

Cheers, Dave.
