Hmmm, the first crew fed handgun. I guess it is a handgun at over 13 lbs. My doubles weigh less than that!

Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;

Roll Eyes There was a fellow here in the states , CT, that used a 458 Win.IIRC it was one of the bolt action "handguns" with 15" barrel, not ported. He used it for metallic sihouette matches.Couldn't hit much with it .Standing nearby you were pushed back by the muzzle blast !!Yes he was using full loads. BOOM

We have a T/C Contender in 45-70, and as we got the loads hotter, it started leaving people's hands - sometimes clobbering them on the forhead.

So we decided to stop letting people shoot it.

One English gentlemen insisted on shooting it, despite all our efforts.

The pistol has the original T/C wood grips, and the little plastic plate at the bottom has long since broke.

He held the pistol in his right hand, putting his left palm undeneath the base of the grip.
As he fired, the wood cut into his pald - all the way to the bone! And we had to take him to hospital.

That was the last anyone shot it.

I dunno Saeed. When it was legal to do so, I used a TC in 45/70 for hunting. A 2x Leupold EER in TSOB mounts, and most importantly, Pachmayers! Big Grin

Not pleasant to shoot, but quite manageable.

What sort of loads were you using to get those results?

Cheers, Dave.
