I got a Charles Bronson DVD,I love westerns.

This was after the wife said not to get each other anything, like a fool I didn't.First thing she asked for was,"where's mine?"

Men can be so dumb sometimes.

It lovely living in the country isn't it. We have a (dry - occasionally wet) river running through the centre of our property and it attracts many parrots such as rosells, lorikeets, hundreds of galahs and cockatoos, hawks, kookaburras, magpies, honey-eaters, willy wag-tails. Rabbits on the front and back lawns - damn the dog isn't doing a good job, some hares. Fox calls at night. If it is a drought year kangaroos and even emus appear from the plains across the hills.

Later in winter frogs, ducks and ducklings.

PS I am geting a GPS. I know because I bought it a month ago and gave it up. Said "it may save my life if I get lost some day".

I got a book "Rhodesian Ridgeback Pioneers" written by an Aussie lady who lives round the corner from me, Linda Costa.

She spent some time in Zimbabwe after marrying a bloke from there. They bred Ridgebacks of which I have two and the book is about the dogs but also has some really good photos of early Rhodesian Pioneers and also hunters like Selous and Cornelius van Rooyen. Also got some interesting hunting stories about how the early hunters used dogs to bay up lions. Its a good read and excellent for any ex Rhodesians or others who have interest in the early days of that country.

Well , we got ourselves a new DVD/ Video player since the old vcr had just died - so now NitroX can send me the Tanzanian Hunting DVD we are all waiting on.... Now all I gotta do is figure out how to make it work...

All the usual stuff , chocolate, chocolate , stuff to eat , chocolate , and the 2nd hand Remington Model 7 in 223 that I got myself a couple of weeks ago- needed a clean up and a better scope ( funny - had just the right one on the shelf..) and the new recoil pad will be here in two weeks , and then the local goats will be in trouble...

Her-indoors got a cookbook - that I had wanted for a while . Reverse psychology , buy it for her and use it yourself .

The little guy got more toys than you can poke a stick at , is currently outside playing with the water slide- probably have pnuemonia in the morning ...

Hope everyone else had a great day too .

No mate , the rifle had been battered and abused cosmetically , and the recoil pad is a fairly soft rubber that had torn badly . I suspect the rifle had been carried in a vertical rack in a vehicle in rough country , and the pad had been battered to bits . The original scope had a major bash/rub on the eye relief ring too - as well as awfull scratching to the lens.Should be sweet once the new pad gets here.

You dont see many 223 cal rifles secondhand here either , and the Rem Mod 7 is a nice light unit for goat hunting on steep country . With budget hunting ammo available from a friendly source locally ( less than half gunshop prices )it should be a much used package .
