My ugly mug
A month back I got asked, along with my family to do a piece for NZ media on our environmental work as farmers. I managed to slip a bit in about hunting. In fact put it as first importance.

Nice one Craig. Good to see a solid example of the environmental good farmers do and can do against rabid greenie accusations.
Geez, being a bit hard on yourself describing your mug as ugly. Mind you, at the same time I can't say you're getting any better looking !

Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.

Thats kind of my Hope Gryph. Not sambar, but the Fallow etc that are here. Plus the pheasants ducks hares etc.
Built a new wetland last summer and yesterday morning there was a pair of Canada geese sitting on it, which is not common up this valley, so hopefully Im making the right habitat.

One thing for sure Gryph, they won't get out of control... Actually for those who know paradise ducks and their effect on hunters, the goose is far worse. Can see myself getting pissed at them from time to time.

Charlie, some nice trout up to 4 pound.Mostly rainbows. Its quite a slow silt bottomed stream, nt a lot of rock or riffles, and the fish are not quite the fighters of faster current waters. but with suitable gear they are great for a days nymphing.

Well done, you guys!

Having grown up on a farm and seen the damage cattle beasts can do in the high country (not to mention buffalo in the NT), I commend your fencing off of the watercourses.

Please give my regards to your family, Craig.

Craig- thanks for sharing that! Very impressive...lots of folks talk about conservation and environmental responsibility but very few actually do the work to make it happen but you certainly have made that effort!

Good on you!,

Cheers Z, I like the work you have done on your block too. A few more years and hopefully I have some spots that look a bit like that.
