Charlie64Feral cats in Australia ....
.
Just watched a very interesting (albeit older) documentary on feral cats in Aussie. Reckoned that there are over 8 million feral cats and 2.4 million domestic cats in the country. And showed what massive damage feral cats impact on native bird and wildlife species. Argued that the only viable solution is shooting and trapping. Seemed to make sense to me.
Incredibly high number of feral cats!

yumastepsideNot sure if it was the same show or not, but one I saw had the army out with the then new Steyr AUG's destroying feral cats. One large tree was lit up with a spotlight and the cats eyes lit it up like a Christmas tree there were so many, they were sitting in the nests of the birds they had killed.
When I'm out shooting, any cat more than 200 metres from a house is fair game.....

Charlie64.
Gryphon, Saw those also. Crazy. I assume that the ref to deceased peoples images and voices at the start of the clip is a religious or beliefs warning ? Cats are an issue in Europe also but not to the extent that Australia has !

TCLouisYears ago I was watching the AUS television personality tell what a problem they were and the negative impact they had on local species.
They drove up to and area and ferals were everywhere. The caught a bunch during the show then appeared to release all/most of them when they packed up to go.
They may have put a lot down and just did not want to show the weenies in the audience the only management choice.
LAST show of his I ever watched.
Seems like they need to organize/support groups to eradicate as many ferals as they can and cane toads too while they are at it.
At least the goats are edible
