Re: $40,000 lion "hunt"
Canned hunting of lion is very common in South Africa. Although I have never heard of shooting one while in the cage. One can get an MGM lion (with out a scratch on his face) from several outfitters in South Africa. The cost will be in the neighborhood of US $45,000 - $50,000.

It's a real travesty, in my opinion. But there are certain "hunters" who have taken the Big 5 and never been to any country in Africa except for South Africa. Might as well go to the zoo for your safari.

There is at least one shooter in the US that took a Grand Slam of North American Sheep and never left a ranch in Montana.

He subsequently went on to win the Weatherby and the SCI Hunter of the Year Award. He is a 'nice guy', and generous too.
