Giant Crocodile 22ft

Sidney HiscoxGiant Crocodile 22ft
Reading the Daily Mail in England and was nice to see they actually posted something about hunting which wasn't negative:
"This picture, showing a little girl examining the dead reptile, has been circulating on the internet for some time but its origins have always been unclear.
Now, however, a man has claimed it was killed by members of his farming family at Manangoora, around 600 miles south-west of Darwin, in 1997.
Jeida Francis said: ‘It was massive. This one was getting nasty and too close. It was attacking our cattle.’
The crocodile weighed so much it took two powerful Toyota 4x4s to pull it from the Wearyan River.
The remaining two crocodiles are thought to still be alive - and have grown to the same size as this gargantuan 22ft monster.

BakesDon't know mate, unless they have a photo with them holding a tape measure we will never know. Still its a bloody big croc.

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Sidney Hiscoxyeah, i did a little maths and that truck is a Land Cruiser.
The length of a Land Cruiser with a pick up and bumper is 220 inches or 18 feet. in the pic the tail probably goes on for 2 or 3 feet which would make 21 feet but as you say, you just don't know

Von GruffAnd it seems to have been taken the same way other "trophy" pics are taken, that is with the Toyota four or five feet behind the croc to make the croc seem larger. Still a biggun though.

NakihunterThe salt water crocs we get now a days are small compared to 50 years ago or earlier. They used to be common from the west coast of south India all around the east, Sundarbans of Bangladesh, Burma, Thailand, Indonesian islands, Philippines, New Guinea & Australia. Today the range is very restricted. The south Indian population is extinct. The rest is down to 10% of the old days.
The average adult male is said to have been 18' or longer and a good trophy was said to have been over 20'. There are many records of 25' salties and the record from India is 31' with a dried skull of over 7'. Romulus Whittaker is a snake & croc expert (American based in South India) and has been doing work on them since the late 60s and runs the crocodile bank in Mahabalipuram in Chennai (Madras) in South India. He told me about these huge salties of the by gone era when I was a school boy in the 70's.

SGraves155Recent Northern Australian attacks:
http://ozmagic.homestead.com/a...rocodileattacks.htmlOz Magic Note:
"Dr Graham Webb the Northern Territory's leading expert on Saltwater Crocodiles recently stated that Saltwater Crocodile numbers have returned to the numbers found 200 years ago. All visitors to tropical areas in Northern Australia should use extreme caution when near water in Northern Australia."

Matt GrahamIf that croc is 22ft long I will eat my hat and a 40 series Land Cruiser sure isnt 18 foot long!!

BrandoReally hard to tell in that photo...That croc could be a little closer to the camer than the truck and would easily make it look huge. Not too mention that crocs looks swollen up like its been dead for a little while...
But I will say its a big sucker for sure!

SGraves155I'm with Matt. If that thing's over 17.5 feet, they're gonna have to have it photo'd with a tape measure to get believers from folks who have been there. I've seen some 15-18 footers both in Australia and in Africa that looked bigger--and were not swollen up with gas.

I don't agree fully. In Australia's case anyway. Numbers are a lot better than 10% original figures by now. And crocs are getting big again.
