mark smithsambar hunt
Just returned from 5 days hunting sambar near Benambra. We only sighted one stag and frightened a hind. A lot less deer seen than our trip last year. This was possibly due to weather conditions , I have never seen so many trees down . On one section of track there was 6 trees across it all touching each other. The local farmer said it happened a month ago. There was alarge dump of snow leaving a foot and a half of snow on his paddocks and dropping alot of trees. This was followed by a violent storm which did a lot more damage. Unfortunately it will be next year before we can return.
Used my new Pentax binoculars for the first time. As a glasses wearer they were superior to my old Leitz 7X42s'. The wind down eye pieces were very good with glasses and they are as good optically to my eyes.
