sjbTravel Insurance
Any one had any travel insurance done recently that covers you for hunting? Traveled in late 2011 to Africa and got coverage by QBE, going across the pond in May, got in contact with QBE but they have changed their policy to exclude hunting, any suggestions?

Ian in OzGive SSAA Insurance Brokers a call. I've not used their travel insurance but I'm very happy with their service and rates for home & contents, vehicle and farm insurance.

sambarman338I used SSAA when I went to Africa four years ago but for some reason their policy did not work for tahr hunting in NZ last year.
Finally, I went with Suresave and, after being delayed in ChCh because of snow, they paid all my extra expenses without quibble.

sjbThanks Ian, must say never even thought of using SSAA before....

Doesnt surprise me in the least with QBE. They withdrew all public liability from the hunting industry about 5 or 6 years ago leaving us with nothing for a period of time. Anti-hunting arseholes...
SSAA is your best bet but most travel agents have deals with good brokers. You can often get 12 month travel insurance for a good price.

Minor NomadSSAA Travel Insurance doesn’t cover hunting.
I took them to task over this and they said they could do nothing about it. You will also see that they offer 36,000 in baggage travel insurance in the advertising.
But when I brought the policy the policy is a standard policy that is offered by Chartis and did not include the much higher lost baggage limit.
So I ended up taking this insurance and also insurance offered by World Nomads. Which is cheaper and at the time did not exclude hunting – to ensure I had insurance while hunting.
I did notice this week when I took out some travel insurance with World Nomads that they now exclude hunting but you can tick a box and choose Hunting as an activity (but not for dangerous game) and the premium doubled to $140 for 1 week.
Be careful to check the PDS for all insurance you look at because most of them exclude hunting.

Rigby350For my trip to Africa last year I used Marsh Insurance, they were very accomodating.

Isn't that crazy?...

one of the safest activities you could do while on holidays...
Ended up getting the Travel Insurance through the SSAA, they use a company called Sure Save who do cover hunting as an activity. Rifle and scope also insured for a maximum of 4K .

ozhunterI used SSAA for several years but their price over the past couple years has sky rocketed (like most things SSAA).
As Rigby350 says, try MARSH.
