Some Actual Hunting Pics.....
Spent ten days in Queensland hunting rusa and other critturs. Son Matthew was the shooter this trip , I just carried the camera.

Managed to bag a nice rusa stag after many kms of hard walking , and a pig or two as well .

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Great pics; well done to your son.

Tell me, despite their tendency to long, graceful 'heads', do rusa have relatively shorter legs than other species?

I've been looking at a 1970 booklet called 'Deer of the World' compiled by Oliver Dansie and Walter Wince and am surprised how short the legs are in the Rusa drawing (by the editor, Michael Clark).

Well , yes , kinda , sorta , maybe -ish ....

I would suggest that they have a body size very like a Fallow , but slightly shorter in the leg.

So , relative to other deer species - yes , rusa are a little shorter of leg in proportion to body mass . If I had to say which other species they probably most resemble it would be sika , which you guys dont have anyway .

Nicely done! That stag has a handsome set of horns for your son's wall. And the pig looks like an eater.
