Nobels 80 Slug Loads
Anyone got a pet load for 12 gauge slugs or buckshot using Nobels 80 powder?

Muzza I have used a lot of Nobel's 80 powder it is not suitable for slug loads it may well work but it is a fast burning powder more suited to 1oz-1 1/8oz target loads if you are looking at the back of the tin at the velocity listed it is misleading this powder will make 1oz loads that do around 1200-1250fps and 1 1/8oz loads that clock 1145-1200fps the info on the back of the tin seems to have come about from conversion from the standard British observed velocity (at 20y ?) that has been converted to muzzle velocity I think something was lost in the translation Nobels 80 is a fantastic light load powder use it for making 1oz loads and enjoy it they don't make it anymore
It is suppose to be very close (but not interchangable) in performance to Alliant (formally Hercules) Green Dot
hope this helps

Thanks mate

We have two kilos of the powder , and were thinking that it might be ok for slug loads since we have a mold as well . Maybe we should swap it for something more appropriate ....
