duffy4Well the picture was obviously set up (it is actually a beer cooler/fridge).
In reality I have never had a Fosters Lager. Since in Aust. I have had "Crown", "Victoria Bitter", "Cascade" and "Blonde".
I kind of like them all but have a "soft spot" for a blonde.

Cascade Premium Lauger. That's all I drink when I am there, and it would be my drink of choice if I could get it here in Texas. I have noticed that most of the locals don't drink Fosters. In the pubs I have been in, most people were drinking Guiness. Victoria Bitter is pretty good too. If you can't spell, just ask for XXXX!

BakesI agree TP...Beer tastes like crap to me.

Bob from down underthe 3 basic food groups are covered by looking out for these beers one from each side of Australia
http://www.bluetongue.com.au/A...abid/63/Default.aspxhttps://www.littlecreatures.com.au/http://www.coopers.com.au/And to cover the northern end of Australia slip into ( he means consume ) a few Darwin stubbies.
That quaint picture of that bloke trying to choke down a frosty fosters looks about the right proportions for the average overseas geezer on his 3rd or 4th Darwin stubbie the fist time he has a go at a six pack.

Regards,
Bob.

drwesWhere we will be hunting alcohol is banned and the Ph does not have a permit for alcohol in camp so I plan on trying as many of the local beverages as possible when in town. Being from Texas,, I guess I am a yank to you guys, we will drink a beer,, especially on a hot Texas day, but most people here drink these "light" or low calorie beers that aren't much different than water to me. And yes we will drink a Scotch or any other spirit as well. MY philosophy on eating and drinking is:

gryphon1Years ago when Continental Airlines flew into Aus my missus and I befriended one of the flight girls and she loved Aus to the extent of buying a house and shacking up here with an Aussie fella.
She maintained that VB was the best beer ever made and all US beer was in her words 'pisswater'.. and at times brought the whole crew back to her home in country Victoria where we all partied on and boy those Yanks got right into the VB`s too.
Now after a few years she packed up her gear and left to go back to Colorado after her relationship broke up and I was there the day the packing crew were loading her furniture etc into the truck to be containerised for the trip home...well this fine young girl loaded 1/2 dozen slabs of VB into the load also as she wanted to hand a few 'real' beers out to her friends back home.
Me? I have gone off VB and for quite a few years I have been knocking back Coopers Pale Ale or their red label Sparkling Ale....real beer` they are, none of that lightweight stuff for me!
And for you blokes here that drink some of the imported Euro beers like Stella for one....check the label, they are brewed bloody HERE ffs!

duffy4Last time I was down under i drank VB mostly. When I got back to Alberta Canada I found a store in Edmonton that stocked VB. So every time I was in Edmonton I would make a point of picking up a 6 pack for a treat.
Same with Stone's Green Ginger Wine. Discovered it in Au. and then found I could get it in Alberta.
Bundaberg rum is good but bloody expensive. Never bought much of it in Au and never bought it in Canada. After three or four rum, pepsi and lime, they all taste pretty good.
18 February 2010, 06:45
RBHuntI like Stella, especially on draft. I think the same bunch that owns Stella are the folks that now own Budweiser.
18 February 2010, 10:37
wirehuntI don't drink ouzo any more. (Well maybe sometimes)
If you don't like beer you need a more physical job, as a rule I don't drink it until that time. In fact the same could be said for hunting. If you come back after a hunt and go for a whiskey straight away then you haven't hunted very hard.
Happy hunting
19 February 2010, 08:09
RBHuntI don't drink any more, but I certainly don't drink any less!!

19 February 2010, 08:14
RBHuntAnd I certainly don't drink anything stronger than pop---but then pop will drink anything!!

Drinking light beer is like having sex in a canoe......
It's fucking close to water.

Nah Nah, beer is good! Some just better than others. WC Fields once said "the worst part of my life was when I was marooned on an island, for weeks we lived on nothing but food and water!"
21 February 2010, 01:57
BakesThe most I can tolerate is one stubbie just to be polite when its offered. I'd much rather have a bourbon.

Crikey! Cocktail! no no noooo.... I meant separately, Ciders as in apple and pear etc ciders on there own. Tui is a golden ale, very tasty, probably the beer I enjoy the most. And Vodka straight or mixed with any just about any fruit juice or Vodka a Coconut juice Ice cold is nice.... etc Vodka is so versatile. Never tried Beer and Vodka
