Couple Days Away Over New Years

muzzaCouple Days Away Over New Years
A bunch of us traditionally camp away on New Years Day and the following day , shoot some rifles , shoot a few feral goats , whack the occasional fallow deer , just generally have a good time with a few assorted offspring along as well.
Heres a few pics - bunch of goats felled by my mate with his Husky 9.3x57 , and a couple of fallow deer spotlighted for the freezer. Two of the guys there shot their first deer , so it was a bit of an event . If you dont approve of spotlighting thats fine - dont bother hijacking the thread over it huh ?

eagle27Good old bit of kiwi hunting, the confident looking youngster on the left in her redbands an all, way to go and a good time had by all.

BakesNow there's a motley crew. Well done all

A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Big Wonderful WyomingNo problem wit spotlighting. Was in the truck when another bloke shot a yearling herford cow on a place in Victoria. Made for an expensive night.

muzzaThese are all townie kids , but they get a fair bit of hunting time , and general shooting time over the year. From memory the little girl in the redbands is the only one there that hasnt shot a deer yet , but she is pretty close doing that. Getting her to shut up long enough will be the real challenge ... ;-)
We are a pretty motley bunch Bakes , but we enjoy what we do and hunting isnt for the fashion conscious so we wear what we wear. ;-)

John HMNice work Muzza I have used my x62 on a few goat culls in Central Otago. Economical on ammo vs kills.

GillettehunterLooks like fun to me. Spotlighting can be a bit of fun where legal. Bet the kids had a good time and thats what its all about. Bruce

You would sure cop some flak if you posted the spotlighting on a NZ forum.

muzzaWhy is that mate ? I doubt you can find me a local who hasnt ever spotlighted some animal , be it a rabbit or a possum of a deer.
It isnt exactly up there with shooting Tahr out of a chopper , or hunting a 100 point stag in a two acre paddock. No one is passing the deer off as trophies , just meat for the freezer.
People do what people do , those who dont approve have the right to not do it.

BruceCMuzza, you miss-understood. I was commenting on the precious nature of the discussions on the NZ hunting site(s) when spotlghting is mentioned, and not on the fact that you enjoy spotlighting with your family and friends.
Do as you please, and enjoy.

muzzaBruce - the self-righteous who post on the NZ forums are all entitled to their own opinions. I dont hunt with them , I dont make a habit of spotlighting deer , its something that we do from time to time, and its all perfectly acceptable in the group of folk that I hunt with.
Having said that ,I dont spotlight trophies, nor do I shoot out the window of a vehicle , or from a helicopter. But those are all my personal choices, just as others are free to make their own.
