Buying for resale in Oz 3 years from now.
What rifle would you buy planning on resale later?

Looking for a 308 or 243 heavy barreled hunting rifle to use for the 3 years I am in Oz.

What has good resale?

Are Savages frowned upon in Australia?

I can build a killer Savage.

308 of any of the mainline names

Savages certainly are not frowned upon here.

Cool, probably do Howa, Remington, or Savage. Unless I can find something else on the cheap.

Sako rifles hold their value the best in my opinion - especially the old model ones form the 90's.

I guess it depends on what kind of deal I am going to get.

Going to probably try a heavy barreled Howa and put a Wild Dog or Bell and Carlson stock on it.

Stinking Wild Dog is expensive isn't it. Kind of like the price of AI stocks in America.

I notice Ruger rifles are pretty cheap here this year. In some calibres the barrel weight is just right for carrying in the hills - but then you want a heavy barrel so may not care.

The SSAA magazine classifieds seems to be full of used .243 and .308 rifles for sale. A good second-hand rifle should hold its value better than a new one.

Ruger would work. Not going to be to picky, as I may not get to export it.

That if I buy a Mark II I can do a lot of work to it, like a new trigger and a HS Precision stock.

Thanks!

I'll be in Melbourne for the airshow if you want to get some beers.

When is the airshow, D99?
My quick googling only shows Avalon 2011. I live on the way from the airport, so might be able to meet up.

Yep, that will be me.

Look for a fat bald guy wearing a green flightsuit, Navy desert digital cammies, Navy desert cammies, Navy woodland cammies, or Navy blue digital cammies.

D99, I didn't bother to note what time of year it is. Send me a PM close to the date and we might be able to meet up.

Cheers
