Nighteater scopes
I KNOW they are cheap but I want a couple for up and coming shooters on low budgets. Read school kids whose parents don't hunt or shoot.

The 3 to 10 x 42 (?) with the adjustment on the left side for distance is selling here for $150-00.

I reckon for their first centrefires (read Howa, one in .223 and the other in .22-250), they are good value. Specially as they can be bought as part of a package.

A Howa blue and plastic with above scope for $680-00.

For a first time centrefire, I think its good value.

I see where "Guns and Game" are fairly harsh on the "new" Mossberg ATR 100. It seems like a piece of rubbish.....

i have that exact scope on my .308
i am very satisfied with it. the price was right and the warranty is ok IF you need it i had problems with mine, wondering zero. got on to my local and he sead yep bring it in and get another and that he had sold heaps and this was the first he had seen with a problem. whell when i go in i find the scope is fine and the mounts were loose..... oops so i fix that and had no probs since, probably shot 500 plus rounds thru it now and had no worries.
the optics are good focus is sharp, eye relef a little to close for mine but not enough to bother me. not quite as good as the leupold i have but for the price......
$150= bargin
would i buy one again? absolutly
get it and the young blokes can try them out without blowing the buget and not sacrificing quality.

Thats a pretty competitive price for such a decent package.

GBB,
Rather than a variable have a look at the 6x36 ... it looks pretty good. I've had a 2-7x AirKing on an HW80 waiting for it to fall apart to test the warranty. Damn thing just keeps going! When I get a 300Whisper built I'll be looking at one of their mil-dot models.
Cheers...

I dropped in and saw grinter yesterday in Ballarat. He suggested also to look at the diamond model as the lens' are made in Japan and also to go for the 30 mm over the 1".

The Wisper sounds pretty mean, Con. The bit in "Cartridges of the World" on it is very informative.

wouldnt the diamond models defeat the purpose of the exersize?
i mean there probably nearly the price of a leupold or other pemium brand scope?
starting to eat away at the money they could be spening on ammo etc.....?
or is grinter a typical salesman, trying to screw every dollar they can getWink

Nah, greg, Grinter has alwaysbeen the most helpful in every way when we have had dealings with him. I am going to get a 4 to 16 Nighteater for around $180 off the local bloke.

Its a good scope for the money.

Whispers on JDJ http://www.sskindustries.com .I'm curious what were the negatives about the new Mossberg rifle? Located this by accident http://www.savageshooters.com when I was looking for this site http://www.savageshooters.net/sharpshooters/Triggers.html

One thing I`d add, I hope the Night eater is better than any of Nikko Sterlings other products, I`ve got 2 Gold Crown 3.5 - 10`s and while they didnt seem to lose zero easily, they have next to zero eye relief, your eye lashes need to near touching the lens, and are impossible to get the focus exactly right. The flip up lens covers fall to pieces also. I replaced the one on my .308 with an old Jap 4 power scope my father in law gave me, the eye relief increase was a welcome thing on a .308 let me tell you, and it`s focus is perfect. I`m going to buy a new scope for my .223 ( the Gold Crown was on it as part of a package ) I might even put a Leupold on it, my theory is one need not sell a good scope on a rifle if the rifle needs to be sold ever, if you have a good scope, keep it.
