Not specifically prohibited anywhere in the Vic Act or regs as of 1 July [unlike Qld]. Dunno how you'd go with a permit to acquire though!

They could be changed from Cat. B to Cat. E by prescribing them as that category, but this would then appear in the regs [amendment of regs doesn't require passing by Parliament, just by the State Cabinet in their guise of 'the Governor in Council'].

I do recall seeing a bolt .50BMG rifle for sale at a gun show here, a couple of years back [but post '97].
