Am considering getting Peltor Tactical 6's. Am really keen to hear how they perform when hunting. Nioa have them for $200 is anyone aware of a better price than this.
Concerns
- Fit with rifle and shotgun stocks
- wind noise
- Weather resistance to rain

I shoot for a I shoot for a living & relised to late that even out the cab of the Tojo I was sending myself deaf.So firat up good on ya for having the sense to use ear protection in the Field .I've always found Earmuffs to be a hinderance when having to bring a rifle /shotgun into my shoulder in a hurry.But I have found a good pair of earplugs do help with cuting down the muzzel blast though admititly they do'nt protrect the whole ear as such! Though I feel that the average shooter in the field is not going to be firing the number of rounds that I sometimes fire so I think .A good set of earplugs will suffice.

Yes seems a lot of money for something that chews batteries and can't get wet. Then again I 'hear' hearing aids aren't cheap either. I had significant hearing damage by the time I was 16. Are your plugs the moulded variety? I am seriously considering them and would be interested in how comfortable they are and if you hear enough to locate foxes running through phalaris or your own footsteps when stalking?

robe0280 you can buy earplugs fron protector safety or just about any decent store that stocks industrial safety gear, I use plugs when i'm pistol shooting because earmuffs give me the shits but I don't think they will be a great success when your out hunting, you basicly loose one of your senses so you'll be handicaping yourself.

Yes have always taken off conventional plugs and ear muffs for that very reason when I know the game is close but unseen. The TAc 6's actually enhance footsteps etc but shut off when the shot is fired so you don't get the damage.

Am thinking some good plugs would be good to wear under these muffs when range shooting to be sure to be sure

I also use electronic hearing protection as would like to protect my already affected hearing. I use the Peltor Comtac which was about $580 Aus when I got them about 4 years ago. They have a moulded ear piece on the right side to minimise the impact of the stock. On windy days there is some noise but its better to hear noise than lose more hearing in my opinion.I take them off when having a break and when things are slow to allow my ears to cool and reduce the sweat that forms there.

If the muffs are good quality it probably won't make a lot of difference if you wear plugs as well,you can only cut out so much noise.

Robe .My plugs are just ordenary Sonics but I know cof a couple of young Blokes who swear by the moulded type. I'm afraid it's a bit late for my hearing.As for having to hunt on foot .Wel that's something I dont do a great deal of do to my line of "work"

I've had a pair of these for years, and I'm extremely happy. You can hear a mouse fart at 30 paces, and the stereo effect is so good that you will know right were he is.

Very good hearing protection too.

In spite of the bulky appearance, they do not hit the stock at all for me (many other muffs do).

My only caveat is that the wire going in the top would let rain in, so wear a wide brimmed hat or use other muffs on rainy days.

I couldn't get on to the sinclair international website but will try again later. Am still trying to find a dealer in Australia with a more compatible price with the US.
Appreciated the first hand comments on the Tac Sevens.
For the right price I definetely think they are worth the experiment for hunting purposes.

Try this seller, I bought normal earmuffs this year from them $20 cheaper than the local shop including airmail(or whatever it was) less than a week to get here.

freight is still high from them, I bought 3 muffs at 20USD and 1 at 27USD ended up $240AUD delivered.

The tac 6's don't seem to appear on the latest brochures and was concerned they may be discontinued which may affect warranty wasn't game to see.

The soundtrap rrp is $295 although they can do slightly better for bulk etc.

Have my Sound traps now but haven't done any shooting or stalking which is what I am after.

Initial thoughts
Very snug and compact. Wore for 2hrs in house just to see how annoying they were for me and also Missus ...they past both tests.
They do improve your hearing like turning the volume up on a hearing aid.
They cut out even slamming cuboard doors. Sounds like muffled clap with ear muffs and very sharp bang without. I am training a very tolerant girlfriend

Am taking them stalking this weekend so I will write a review and post in the product review section.
