Just been out for a quick Chamois hunt on the west coast. Solo trip, to loosen the legs and scout out a few animals. Shot two nice bucks, and had the opportunity to shoot a very nice Bull Tahr, but let him go, save him up for a future client. Watched him feeding through my scope at about 350 yards.
Awesome wee trip, flew in yesterday and out this morning. Saw 40 odd Chamois and 5 Bull Tahr. Came home with horns and meat, as the capes are no good this time of year.

My campsite was on the edge of a 200 foot cliff, a great vantage point for glassing. In the background, typical West Coast Chamois terrain. The Tahr were higher, up near the ice. the Big Bull mentioned fed all the way down to the lower terraces at 8-9pm. I was not back to camp until 11.30pm.

TrackersNZThe 325 is still in AK, gotta figure out how to get it back here. No this was a Rem 7mm SAUM, one of those titanium ones, did the job nicely.

DUKVery nice. Mountain hunting for chamois is probably one of the nicest ways to hunt. Over here, unfortunately quite difficult to get access and expensive.
I understand that in NZ it is basically free. Very tempting, if it wasn't for this looooong flight....

TrackersNZYep that's a Swazi Tahr anorak, awesome bit of kit and now well travelled, has done mountain hunts all over the world. The best coat I've ever had. Is waterproof and breathable and actually works, and very well. Cost and arm and leg, but worth every penny.

If the Tahr coat cost an arm and a leg that blaser must have cost your left nut.
I have to agree with you on the value of the Swazi kit. I wouldn't swap my wapiti coat for anything. Leaves the old Swannie in the weeds.
